CHARLES E. BENEDICT, SR.

   Charles Eugene Benedict, Sr., age 77, of Harrison, Michigan, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2008 at the Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City, Michigan. He was born the son of Hiram and Mary (Anderson) Benedict on May 14, 1931 in Gridley, Illinois. On February 16, 1952, he was united in marriage to the former Catherine J. Altz in Utica, Michigan. Together, they made their home in Harrison and thoroughly treasured each other’s companionship. Mr. Benedict worked as a sales representative for many years, along with serving as the past Redding Township Supervisor, a scout master and little league coach, along with serving as an official high school referee. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his comrades from the Harrison American Legion Post #404, and serving as a member of the St. Athanasius Catholic Church of Harrison. Mr. Benedict had lived in the Harrison area since 1985 where he had moved from Leslie, Michigan.
   Charles is survived by his wife Catherine of Harrison; his two sons, Charles E. (Kristi) Benedict, Jr. of Hale, Michigan and James E. (Lisa) Benedict of Leslie, Michigan; his two daughters, Anne R. Harrison of Port Charlotte, Florida and Mary E. (David) Weisenburger of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; three brothers, Lyle Benedict and Glenford Benedict, both of Gridley, Illinois, and Clifford Benedict of Paxton, Illinois; nine grandchildren along with their spouses: Shanna (Andy) Berry, Catherine Benedict, William Harrison, Nathan Weisenburger, Cody Weisenburger, Schalla Benedict, Andrew Weisenburger, Danielle Benedict, and Dustin Benedict; three great-grandchildren: Majel, Drew, and Alayna Berry; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his four sisters: Amanda Skaggs, Vera Pfeiffinger, Martha Johnson, and Margaret Pfeiffinger.
  Funeral services took place on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Harrison with Father Noel Rudy officiating. Burial took place in the Fernwood Cemetery in Temple, Michigan.

DEBRA ANN BAKER

   Debra Ann Baker, age 55, of Harrison, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center in Midland, Michigan. She was born the daughter of Vincent Howard and Lorraine C. (Wilbur) Wiltshire on July 22, 1953 in Lansing, Michigan. Mrs. Baker worked as a cashier at the Shop-N-Go Marathon of Clare for many years. She had a passion for quilting and feeding the wildlife that frequented her residence.
   She is survived by her husband Michael E. Baker, whom she shared eighteen years of marriage with; her children, Shane Wiltshire and Daniel E. Carter both of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, Rachel R. Richards of Harrison, Scott A. Singletary of Joshua, Texas, Michael C. Baker and Kayla F. (Justin) Inman all of Union, MO; her brothers and sisters, Vincent (Judy) Wiltshire of Woodland, Michigan, Sheral (Joyce) Wiltshire of Phoenix, Arizona, Barbara (Bob) VanHorn of Dewitt, Michigan, Becky (Tom) Irvin of Roscommon, Michigan, and Tammy Velez of Lansing, Michigan; her thirteen grandchildren: Alan Michael, Courtney, Shane, Marcus, Daniel, Dakota, Breeana, Scotty, Liberty, Savannah, Matty, Samuel, and Seth; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
   Funeral services took place on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stocking Funeral Home in Harrison with Pastor Dennis Bromley officiating. Burial took place in the Dewitt Cemetery in Dewitt, Michigan. JEROME F. MORLEY

   Morley, Jerome F. of Harrison, formerly of Flint, age 75, died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at his residence, surrounded by his immediate family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cremation has taken place.
   A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 12th at the residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family via Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, Michigan.
   Jerry was born August 13, 1932 in Flint to Stephen A. and Josephine M. (Mascall) Morley. He graduated from Central High School in 1951 and entered the US Navy, serving in the Korean War. He married Barbara Forrest on June 19, 1970 in Flint, Michigan.
   Jerry loved and was loved beyond words by his immediate family, especially his grandsons Jeremy, Brandon, and Jonathan. He loved fishing, hunting, gambling and his daughter-in-law’s pineapple upside-down cake. Jerry spent the last 10 years of his life on the lake in Harrison playing cards with his family, trying to win the family fantasy football league and celebrating life each and every day.
   Left to cherish his memory are: his loving wife Barbara; daughter Nicole Poisson, of Flint; son Stephen and special daughter-in-law, Tami of New Lothrop; grandsons Jeremy, Brandon and Jonathan; sisters Rosemarie Reno of Lake Mills, Wisconsin and Jeanette Miller of Boca Raton, Fl; many nieces and nephews, and other special friends and family members, including close friends and brother-in-laws Fred Curtis and Jim Boroff. A special thanks to Mid-Michigan Hospice, especially Bobbie and Teisha, who without their amazing help, this trying time would have been even harder.

PAMELA SCHANHALS

   Pamela Schanhals, age 66, of Harrison, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing. She had been a lifelong resident of the Harrison area and a devout Christian raised by her loving aunt and uncle, Ted and Vernice Bilkey, whom she fully considered her Mom and Dad.
   Pamela is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Tom; their children, Eva Sue Pycek of Jackson, Michigan, Ted (Jody) Schanhals of Breckenridge, Lee (Char) Schanhals of Harrison, and Heidi (James) Langley of Clare; 7 grandchildren; Chelsea, T.J., Dustin, Isaac, Samuel, Seth and Kiri; her brothers, Barry (Eve) Huston of Hubbardston, John (Phyllis) Huston of Bayonet Point, FL, her twin sister, Patricia Furman of Evart and sister, Victoria Sherrick of Harrison. She was-preceded in death by her twin baby boys in 1966, her brother, Robert and her sister, Barbara and her parents.
   Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from Clare Church of the Nazarene, Clare, Michigan, with Pastor Russ Atherton officiating. Burial will take place in Hatton Township Cemetery, Clare. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Schanhals family.
