RUTH L. LAFEVE

Ruth L. LaFeve,
age 89, passed away December 3, 2008 in Houghton Lake at King’s Nursing
Home. Ruth lived in Harrison before going to King’s. She was born the
daughter of Floyd and Edith (Spencer) McLaughlin on April 9, 1919 born
in Monroe County.
Ruth was united in marriage to Edward J. LaFeve Sr. on October 25, 1952
in south Rockwood, MI. Edward preceded her in death on September 23,
2005.
Surviving Ruth are son Edward J. LaFeve Jr., daughter Denise (LaFeve)
Bondy Overholt, former marriage Ruth had 3 sons; Loren, Terry and Larry
Himes and 1 daughter Sharon. 14 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren
and 2 great great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters; Genevieve Baisch,
Doris Warner and June Weisbecker.
Funeral took place December 6, 2008 at 11am in Carleton at Arthur
Bobcean Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, Huron Twp. Michigan.

DONALD DUANE ROTH
Donald Duane Roth, age 61, of
Stanton, passed away at his home on Friday, December 12th, after a
two-year battle with colon cancer.
Don was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on December 16, 1946 the
only son of Marion & Amy Marie Roth. Both parents have preceded him in
death.
Don has been a longtime resident of the Stanton area. He graduated
from Harrison High School and Central Michigan University with a master
in education and taught school in Detroit and Ionia, in addition to
classes at Montcalm Community College. He was an active member of the
American Legion Post #452 in Stanton; he served as commander of the
Son's of the American Legion numerous times, and the bar manager for
many years. In addition, he implemented the SAL Santa Auction in 1998,
which continues today and served as newsletter editor for over ten
years, humoring members and guests with his jovial wit and laughter.
Don was an avid supporter of 'Hunt of a Lifetime' which provides
for children with cancer, and his favorite hobby was deer hunting at his
beloved TIBID lodge and traits with his partners and old friends.
Don is survived by two cousins, Cheryl Ann Deavers of Fort
Defiance, Virginia and Dale R. Roth, Harrison, Michigan, in addition to
his chosen TIBID family, Dennis & Ethel Oberlander, Mason, Michigan,
Michael & Lora Lingeman, Stanton, Michigan, Dick & Katie Jamieson,
Stanton, Michigan, Willis & Maggie Crothers, Rockford, Michigan and
Michael & Linda Hopkins, Stanton, Michigan along with his 'chosen sons'
Ed and Jim Lingeman, both of Stanton and their families.
As his request, cremation has taken place. Don requested no
visitation or services be held, but that his ashes be spread at his
hunting blind by his Tim) family.

JAN KENT LOCKWOOD
Jan Kent Lockwood, 62, of Harrison,
passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Mid Michigan Medical
Center-Midland. Mr. Lockwood was born February 1, 1946 in Highland Park,
Michigan, the son of Lawrence R. and Mary (Gritzinger) Lockwood. Mr.
Lockwood was united in marriage to Penelope S. "Penney" Bosch on April
8, 1982 in Southgate, Michigan.
Mr. Lockwood had resided in Harrison since 1997, coming from
Southgate, Michigan. Jan retired from Ford Motor Company after thirty
three years of service. Jan was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose
Lodge #2235 of Harrison and Moose Legion. Mr. Lockwood enjoyed hunting,
fishing and the great outdoors.
Surviving is his loving wife, Penelope S. "Penney" Lockwood of
Harrison, two sons: James Lockwood and wife Kelly of Southgate, Michigan
and Jon LaRou and wife Kimberly of Temperance, Michigan, four daughters:
Cheryl Lenzen and husband Joel of Jacksonville, Florida, Cherie Kiesel
of Belleville, Michigan, Tracy LaRou and husband David Hayden of
Crosswicks, New Jersey and Lynn McCoy of Milford, Michigan, one brother,
Joel Lockwood and wife Dixie of Lake City, Michigan, twelve
grandchildren, two great-grandsons, plus numerous nieces, nephews and
many close friends. Mr. Lockwood was preceded in death by his parents,
one brother, Lawrence W. Lockwood and one grandson, Jacob Pierre LaRou.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held Saturday, December
13, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge#2235 of
Harrison. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Lockwood may be

ELVA MAE WELCH
Elva Mae Welch, 86, of Harrison,
Michigan, died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Dade City, FL. She was born
February 10,1922 in Flint, Michigan.

She is survived by: Husband: Robert S. Welch of Harrison, MI.
Daughter: Beverly Jean Rhoads of Prudenville, MI. Sons: Robert K. Welch
of Flint, MI and Richard T. Welch of Zephyrhills. 11 Grandchildren, 17
Great Grandchildren
Visitation will be at Purcell Funeral Home Sun. Dec. 7, 2008 3-5 pm
Services will be at Purcell Funeral Home on Monday, December 8, 2008 at
10.00 AM Pastor Robert K. Welch will preside. Interment will follow at
Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

WILLIAM LEROY BELTZ

William "Bill" Leroy Beltz of
Harrison, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Mid Michigan Medical
Center-Midland. Bill was born June 5, 1940 in Alliance, Ohio, the son of
Mark Vernon and Helen Marie (Mincer) Beltz. Mr. Beltz served his country
in the United States Army. Bill had resided in Harrison since 1972,
coming from Detroit, Michigan. Bill was united in marriage to Pauline L.
Walters on December 16, 2001 in Harrison.
Mr. Beltz was a member and pianist of Grace Bible Church of Clare,
owner and operator of Beltz Hobby of Harrison, president of Twenty Lakes
R-C Club of Harrison, past president of Gladwin R-C Club and the founder
of Honkey Tonk Express Band. In the early 1970's, Bill played in the
Moon Lighters Band. Bill was an avid builder, pilot and trainer of R-C
planes.
Surviving is his loving wife, Pauline L. Beltz of Harrison, two
daughters: Ann Marie McLavy and husband Tim of Harrison and Victoria
Holly Erskine and husband Ed also of Harrison, one step-daughter, Janet
Thomas and husband Ken of Harrison, three step-sons: William Carrier and
wife Pam of Battle Creek, Michigan, Michael Carrier and wife Wanda also
of Battle Creek and Gary Carrier of Beaverton, Michigan, two sisters:
Betty Smith of Florida and Patricia Sehr of California, a half sister,
Alice Schmidt and husband Ralph of Owosso, Michigan, two grandchildren:
Madelyn McLavy and Andrew Erskine, two step-grandchildren: Rebecca James
and husband Michael and Ashley Carrier. Mr. Beltz was preceded in death
by his parents.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday,
December 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison,
with Pastor Jim Walters officiating. Military honors were performed
under the auspices of the Harrison American Legion Post 404. Memorial

DOROTHY JUNE SAUNDERS
Dorothy June Saunders, 87, of
Harrison, formerly of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday,
December 9, 2008 at Tendercare of Clare. Dorothy was born June 7, 1921
in Dickens, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin M. and Olive Mae (Miller)
Hetherington. Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond Saunders on
April 12, 1951 in South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Saunders preceded Dorothy in
death on November 25, 1996.
Mrs. Saunders taught school at Harrison Community Schools for
thirty years as a first grade teacher and special education teacher.
Dorothy was the first special education teacher employed by Harrison
Community Schools. Dorothy was a member of the M.E.A. and N.E.A. She
enjoyed writing, reading, crocheting and teaching children.
Surviving is her daughter, Donna Bradman of Harrison, five
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Dorothy also was preceded in
death by her parents and one son, Dean Saunders.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 11:00
a.m. from the First Congregational Church, Harrison, with Rev. Gerald
Baxter officiating. Burial was at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Avon Park,
Florida. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Saunders may be
considered to: Mid Michigan Home Care or Harrison Community Library. To
