RONALD D. TOBIAS

   TOBIAS, Ronald D. - of Harrison, formerly of Clio/Mt. Morris, age 71, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1pm Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Rev. Tim Evans officiating. Burial at West Vienna Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3-9pm and Wednesday from 1 0am until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
   Ron was born March 9, 1937 in Clio, Michigan to the late Charles and Cora (Neeley) Tobias. He had resided in Harrison since 1995 coming from Mt. Morris. Ron married Norma Pillow on July 7, 1998. He was employed with GM Turnstedt for 37 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Harrison. Ron enjoyed hunting.
   Surviving are: wife, Norma; children, Scott (Robin) Pillow of Grand Blanc, Gary (Kim) Pillow of Mt. Morris, Mike, Tammy, Shelly; grandchildren, Garrett, Derec, Tevin, Travis, Alyssa, Amanda and Allison; brothers, Arnold (Barbara) Tobias of Harrison and Donald (Terri) Tobias of Idaho; several nieces and nephews; many friends. BETTY L. BRANDT

   Betty L. Brandt, age 73, of Harrison, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center in Midland, Michigan. She was born the daughter of Alex and Dora (Nissel) Leschinger on February 10, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Brandt retired out of the Clare County Court House from the Clare County Clerk and Register of Deeds department as a Deputy Clerk with seventeen years of service. She had also worked for Harrison Community Schools as a secretary for eighteen years. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed: gardening, crocheting, caring for her friends and being a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church of Harrison. She had lived in the Harrison area since 1966, where she had moved from Alpena, Michigan.
   Mrs. Brandt is survived by her son, Curt Brandt of Harrison and his companion, Sandy Musgrove; her daughters, Cindy (Randy) Wright of Harrison and Peggy Nicholson and her husband, Kim Chaffee, of Commerce Township, Michigan; her brother, Larry (Bonnie) Leschinger of Ossineke, Michigan; her sisters, Darlene (Jerry) Cadarette of Alpena, Michigan and Donna (Dick) Sadder of Hubbard Lake, Michigan; a grandchild, Teri Brandt and eleven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Kevin Cadarette.
   Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Harrison, Michigan with Pastor Michael Schaedig officiating. Graveside services took place in the Evergreen Cemetery in Alpena, Michigan on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be considered to St. Luke Lutheran Church or to Mid Michigan Hospice. Arrangements were entrusted with the Stocking Funeral Home of Harrison.

PHILIP W. OLSON

   Philip W. Olson, 88, of Harrison passed away Friday, August 15, 2008 at William Beaumont Hospital of Royal Oak, Michigan. Philip was born June 21, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of William F. and Arlene (Helgren) Olson. Mr. Olson served his country in the United States Coast Guard. Mr. Olson was united in marriage to the former Mary A. Huntley on March 31, 1944 in Lubec, Maine. Mrs. Olson preceded Philip in death on March 5, 2006. Mr. Olson had resided in Harrison since 1981, coming from Madison Heights, Michigan.
   Philip was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church of Harrison. Philip retired from Michigan Bell Telephone after thirty six years of employment. Mr. Olson enjoyed league bowling for many years.
   Surviving are two daughters: Sandra Mitchie of Allen Park, Michigan and Jan Olson of Ferndale, Michigan, one granddaughter, Keli Denson and one great-granddaughter, Serena Denson. Mr. Olson also was preceded in death by his parents.
   Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Luke Lutheran Church, Harrison with Pastor Michael Schaedig officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Military honors were conducted under the auspices of the American Legion Post 404 of Harrison. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Olson may be considered to: St. Luke Lutheran Church, Harrison. HAROLD H. BRINGOLD

   Harold Herman Bringold, 89, of Harrison passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Central Michigan Community Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Mr. Bringold was born April 25, 1919 in Harrison, the son of John and Rose (Swartz) Bringold. Mr. Bringold was united in marriage to the former Mary B. Doyle in 1982. Mr. Bringold had resided in Harrison since 1970, coming from Flint, Michigan.
   Harold was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison, a life member of Harrison Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2235, Harrison Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Harrison Knights of Columbus Council #7571. Harold enjoyed hunting, playing shuffle board and traveling.
   Surviving is his loving wife, Mary B. Bringold of Harrison, three step-sons: John Smith and wife Marcia of Remus, Michigan, Doyle Smith and wife Sue of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and Glenn Smith and wife Maryann of Weidman, Michigan, three step-daughters: Kate Latham of Mecosta, Michigan, Barbara Richmond and husband Rich also of Mecosta and Vickie Harrison and husband Joel of Sanford, North Carolina, eighteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Bringold was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Ernest and Arnold Bringold, one sister, Martha Fry, one granddaughter, Teri Bentley and one great-grandson, Ben Smith.
   Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison, with Father Noel Rudy officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Remus. GERTRUDE VIOLA ABBOTT

   Gertrude Viola Abbott, 68, of Harrison passed away Monday, August 18, 2008 at her home. Gertrude was born April 15, 1940 in Gladwin, the daughter of Harold and Lucille (Pero) Smith. Gertrude was united in marriage to Mr. Wesley W. Abbott on April 5, 1993 in Algoma, Indiana.
   Mrs. Abbott had resided in Harrison since 1993, coming from rural Gladwin County. Gertrude enjoyed caring for her family and home. In her free time she enjoyed reading and fishing.
   Surviving is her husband, Wesley W. Abbott of Harrison, one son, Bryan Smith and wife Lori of Gladwin, two daughters: Dixie Davis and husband Mike of Harrison and Amy Miner and husband Ken of Cedar Springs, Michigan, four brothers: Russ Smith and wife Joyce of Gladwin, Jim Smith and wife Thelma of Sumter, South Carolina, Bill Smith and wife LaVel of Gladwin and Roy Smith and wife Roxy of Coleman, Michigan, two sisters: Edie Crick of Gladwin and Jo Naugle and husband Jerry also of Gladwin, seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by her parents.
