MAYBELLE E. ETIENNE

Maybelle E. Etienne, 103, of Traverse City, died Tuesday
morning, August 5, 2008 at Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Born May 18, 1905 in Saginaw, she was the daughter of the late John
P. and Jennie (Summerville) Lambert. On November 28, 1931 in Cleveland,
Ohio, she married Linus Etienne, who preceded her in death on January
12, 2005.
A retired registered nurse, Maybelle's career spanned over 40
years. In her career, she taught nursing, worked for Mercy Hospital in
Bay City as head of pediatrics and as director of nursing. While living
in Harrison, she was a long time member of St. Athanasius Catholic
Church and their Altar Society. She felt a sense of pleasure working in
her gardens as well as her membership in the Harrison Quilters. Her many
quilts grace the homes of all of her children and grandchildren.
Maybelle is survived by her children, Linus (Audrey) Clinton
Etienne of Charlevoix, Douglas (Janet) James Etienne of Lansing, Carol
Lee (Gerald) Erway of Cedar; grandchildren, Michael (Marcy) Etienne,
Matthew Etienne, Gregory (Christine) Etienne, Leslie Etienne, Lisette
Gorow, Danielle Shuler, Jeff Etienne, Alicia Etienne, Michael Erway,
Patrick Erway and Jacob Erway; and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Maybelle was preceded in death by three
sisters, Mae Histed, Alma Mueller and Pearl Lutz; brothers, Donald,
Forrest, Martin and Woodrow Lambert.
A Memorial Mass will be held in Harrison at the St. Athanasius
Catholic Church on September 13, 2008 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Noel
Rudy serving as the celebrant.
Burial will take place at St. Anthanasius Cemetery.

TOBY JANE STERRETT
Toby Jane Sterrett, 68, of Harrison
passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008 after a long illness. Toby was
born January 22, 1940 in Meadow Bridge, West Virginia, the daughter of
Virgil and Emma C. (Fitzwater) Kincaid. Toby was united in marriage to
Mr. Rudy Sterrett on October 26, 1978 in Harrison. Mrs. Sterrett had
resided in Harrison since 1987, coming from Lansing, Michigan.
Mrs. Sterrett retired from General Motors Corporation, Oldsmobile
Division of Lansing. Toby enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time
with her family.
Surviving is her husband, Rudy Sterrett of Harrison, her mother,
Emma C. Bennett of Clare, two daughters: Diana L. Wilcox and husband
Jeffrey of Harrison and Teresa M. Green of Clare, one step-daughter,
Jamie VanHorn of Clare, one brother, Kenneth Kincaid and wife Chris of
Lansing, one sister, Emily Buzbee and husband James Paul of Harrison,
six grandchildren: Jack Lumbert, Brandon Graham, Rollin Green, Josh
Farrell, Trend Farrell and Jeffrey Wilcox II, three great-grandchildren:
Miranda Price, Olivia Lumbert and Brandon Graham Jr., plus numerous
nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sterrett was preceded in death by her father
and her daughter, Patricia A. Graham.

MARY A. BRITTON

Mary A. Britton, age 93 of Alpena,
formerly of Tecumseh and Lake George, died Friday, August 8, 2008 in
Alpena. She was born March 3, 1915 in Tecumseh, MI, the daughter of S.
Henry and Nettie (Kaiser) Smith. She married Dr. William "DOC" Britton
on June 4, 1938 and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1998.
Mary was a graduate of Tecumseh High School, Class of 1933 and
attended Cleary College. She was employed in the animal brokerage
business in Ann Arbor and Hayden Fuels in Tecumseh. Following her
marriage to Doc Britton, she worked with him in his veterinary practice
in Tecumseh from 1938 thru 1959. From 1959 to 1963 she was employed at
Tecumseh Products and Michigan State University Athletic Department.
She is survived by her two sons; Dr. Lee (Harriett) Britton of
Alpena and John (Theresa Simmer) Britton of Lake George, one brother
Henry "BUS" Smith of Tecumseh, four grandchildren, Mary E. Britton
(Steve Linick), David W. Britton, Todd R. Britton, and Matt L. Britton,
four great grandchildren, Hailey K. Britton, Jenna J. Britton, Zachary
Linick, and Sarah Linick, and several nieces and nephews. in addition to
her husband "DOC", she was preceded in death by her brother Maxwell
Smith and her sister Elizabeth Karner.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, from 3-6 p.m. at the
Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M.
until service time. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 12
at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Hawkins of New Song
Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeway Cemetery,
Ridgeway. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the

LINDA LEE GRAHAM
Linda Lee Graham, 69, of Harrison,
passed away Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Mid Michigan Medical
Center-Midland. Linda was born April 3, 1939 in New Castle, Indiana, the
daughter of Allen and Opal (Gold) Mettert. Linda was united in marriage
to Lee F. Graham on October 8, 1967 in Winchester, Indiana. Mrs. Graham
had resided in Harrison since 1994, coming from Farmland, Indiana.
Mrs. Graham was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints, Harrison Branch, F.E.M.S. of the 40et8 of Clare County and
the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 273 of Temple.
Surviving is her loving husband, Lee F. Graham of Harrison, two
brothers: Jim Mettert of Somerset, Kentucky and Mike Mettert of
Harrison, one sister, Mary Hund and husband Hollis of Cheyenne, Wyoming,
plus numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by
her parents, one brother, Joe Mettert and one sister, Barb Matthews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 2:00
p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with President Joel Johnson
officiating. Visitation will take place Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at
Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial
will be at Pleasant Plains Cemetery, Harrison. A Luncheon will take
place immediately following services at the American Legion Post 273,
located at 150 W. Temple Dr., Temple. Memorial contributions in memory
