CARRIE L. DUPRAW
Carrie L. DuPraw,
passed away on April 25, 2009, following a brief battle with cancer.
Carrie was at home with her loved ones around her. Carrie was born in
Marion, Ohio on December 12, 1951. Carrie and her husband Doug have
lived in Harrison, Michigan for 20 years.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Eva Gourley
of Ohio; her in-laws, Earl and Lila DuPraw of Carlton, Michigan, Rusty
DuPraw of Harrison, Michigan, Molly DuPraw of Harrison, Michigan; her
brother, Wayne Gourley of N.C., her sisters Patty Escalnte of Arizona,
Sharon Barker of AZ, son Douglas Earl DuPraw Jr. of Coleman, MI and
Grandson, Jackie O. Douglas Danks of Harrison, MI.
Carrie is survived by her loving husband Douglas Earl DuPraw of
Harrison, Michigan, Missy DuPraw of Harrison, MI, Sissy DuPraw of
Harrison, MI, sister-in-law, Shirley (Bill) DuPraw of Carlton, MI, her
brothers: Garry (Lula) Gourley of GA, Larry Gourley of KS, Richard (Jan)
Gourley of TX, Butch (Jody) Gourley of CA, Raymond Gourley of KS, David
(Claudia) Gourley of AZ, Paul Harrison of TX, and her children: Carolyn
(Michael) Pickard of Gladwin, Michigan, Raymond (Wendy) Hulbert of
Midland, Michigan, Christine Ray of TX, Eva DuPraw of Harrison, MI,
Patty (Ken) Lubbs of Lake George, MI, Jerri Lynne Golden and Nathan
Aldrich of Harrison, MI, Aaron DuPraw and Shana Bradford of Midland,
Michigan, Jeanette DuPraw of Midland, MI and our adopted daughter Patty
Peacock of Traverse City, Michigan, 36 grandchildren and 1 on the way,
17 great-grandchildren, 1 on the way.
Carrie has been a member of the Harrison Eagles Auxiliary 3541 for
10 years. Carrie has held different Chairs: Inside Guard 2000-2001,
Conductor 2001-2002, Vice Madam President 2004-2005, Madam President
2007-2008, Jr. Past 12. She has also held different Chairs at District
12: Outside Guard 2004-2005, and also Inside Guard 2006-2007.
Carrie also has many nieces and nephews, and many close friends. A
special thank you to Don and Ravina Nailor. A special thank you to
Howard and Peg Castle for your help and encouragement. Carrie will be
deeply missed. Funeral services will be held at Stocking Funeral Home
located in Harrison, Michigan on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation was on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. There
will be a grave sight burial at Grant Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at
the Harrison Eagles located on Townline Road.

BARBARA JUNE WALT
1934-2009
Barbara June Walt,
74, of Harrison, passed away at her home on Sunday, April 26, 2009.
Barbara was born June 10, 1934 in Williamstown County, Michigan, the
daughter of James W. and Erma E. (Patrick) Ricketts.
Barbara was united in marriage to Mr. Howard C. Walt Jr. on August
6, 1951 in Rose City, Michigan. Mr. Walt preceded Barbara in death in
1975.
Mrs. Walt had resided in Harrison since 1991, coming from El
Dorado, Kansas. Barbara was a member of the American Legion Post 404
Ladies Auxiliary of Harrison. Barbara enjoyed shooting pool, golfing and
fishing.
Surviving Mrs. Walt are five sons: Howard Walt III and wife Ava of
Grain Valley, Missouri, Carl Walt and wife Cindy of Colorado Spring,
Colorado, Terry Walt of Harrison, Duane Walt also of Harrison and Jesse
Walt of St. Paul, Minnesota, one sister, Beatrice Wolf of Harrison,
fourteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, plus many nieces
and nephews. Mrs. Walt also was preceded in death by her parents, one
brother, James Ricketts and one sister, Betty Jones.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mrs. Walt will be held
Friday, May 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from American Legion Post 404 of
Harrison, with members of the American Legion officiating. To share an

RALPH "BUD" EVERT SMITH
September 19, 1950 - April 21, 2009
Ralph “Bud” Evert Smith, 58, of
Harrison, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Mr. Smith was born
September 19, 1950 in Greenfield, California, the son of Cecil and Betty
(Church) Smith. Bud was united in marriage to the former Claudette M.
Decker on January 31, 1998 in Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. Smith had
resided in Harrison since 1993, coming from Gaston, South Carolina.
Bud owned and operated Bud Smith Carpentry of Harrison for over
thirty-five years. Bud enjoyed traveling and spending time at Michigan’s
Upper Peninsula, he also enjoyed hunting large game.
Surviving is his loving wife, Claudette M. Smith of Harrison, seven
sons: Joseph Smith and wife Tosha of Gladwin, Brian Smith and fiancee
Tammy of Gladwin, Geoff Smith and fiancee Vickey of Gladwin, Leif Smith
and wife Laura of Harrison, Tom Simmon and wife Kathy of Hope, Michigan,
Kenny Curey and wife Missy of Gaston, South Carolina and Nathan Curey
and wife Tiffany also of Gaston, South Carolina, two daughters: Shanelle
Curey of Charlotte, North Carolina and Brionne Glass and husband Ricky
of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, three brothers: Nelson Smith and wife
Maurine of Florida, Mike Smith of Florida and Dan Smith and wife
Charlene also of Florida, three sisters: Linda Crisp of Florida, Lou
Curey and husband Roger of Florida and Bonnie Dorman and husband Rob
also of Florida, sixteen grandchildren: Brett, Savannah, Adonis, Kane,
Ethan, Eric, Kenny, Eve, Patience, Davis, Brittany, Lacy, Lucy, Nathan
Jr., Natalie and Caitlin, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Smith
was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Greg Smith.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held Monday, April 27,
2009 at 2:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with Rev. Rodney
Morrison Jr., Pastor of Hope Lutheran Church, St. Helen, Michigan
officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Smith may be
