Family Fun on Tap at 135th Clare County Fair
Country Music, Races, Full Rodeo Slated

HARRISON – The 135th Clare County Fair will be held July 23-28 this year at the Clare County Fairgrounds. Preceding the fair will be a 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22 performance by The Calvarymen Quartet singing both classic southern and progressive gospel music. Admission is by freewill offering. If weather is inclement, their performance will be moved to Browns Corner Church.
Headlining this year's grandstand concert at 7 p.m. Friday, July 27 will be The Charlie Daniels Band. Opening for Charlie Daniels will be country music singer-songwriter Jordan Davis, named “the Artist to Watch” by Billboard, Rolling Stone and Country Music Television. Concert tickets cost $35, plus handling fees, and must be purchased at www.startickets.com.
Other fair grandstand shows will include:
Superkicker Rodeo at 7 p.m. Monday, July 23 will be a full rodeo including Bull Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Team Roping, Ranch Bronc Riding, Bareback Riding, Female Barrel Racing, Mutton Busitng [must be under 50 pounds], and Boot Scramble [12 years and younger]. Admission: $15/adults and $10/children [ages 3-10].
SJO Motocross [for ages 3-10] at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24. Admission: $$12/adults and $6/children;
USA Figure 8 Demolition Derby at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25. Admission: $12/adults and $6/children. Rules and entry forms are available at the fair office, USA office 734-483-0574 or at www.usademoderby.com.
Harness Racing Overnights post at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 26. Admission: $5/adults and $3/children.
Mud Bog by Concerned Racers 4 Wheel Drive Club at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28. Admission: $10/adults and $5/children [ages 5-10].
The Bears of Paradise Ranch will offer shows daily, and Gizmo the Robot will be wandering the grounds several times each day.
Judging of youth events will be held throughout the week, culminating with the Saturday, July 28 livestock auction of large animals at 10 a.m., with small animals immediately following the large animal auction.
Advanced Mega Band [armband] vouchers for Skerbeck Family Carnival rides are available online at www.skerbeckcarnival.com. Save $10 if purchased before fair week.
There also will be a raffle for a Heart Bargello Quilt offered by the Clare County Agricultural Society. Tickets cost $5 each, with the drawing at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28: need not be present to win.
